Just as you make your way through Elbert, you begin to understand just what makes the three hour drive so worthwhile. This lake, sitting nestled in a deep valley of unabieding mountains, will take your breath away. As the sun sets off of the fishing shore, you hear nothing but the wind at your back and enjoy the smell of crisp mountain air. Camping at the lake is permitted only within designated camp grounds however space is plentiful and your chances are grand to find just the spot because all of the camp grounds at the lake are aligned perfectly within only feet of the lake. Fishing is plentiful and the thick terrain offers privacy from most every angle. You’ll find yourself basking in the early morning sunlight and illuminating your soul with each sun set.
